| The picture above is a mosaic that is above the back of our kitchen stove. It depicts the various hobbies and activities of our family. The chess pawn at the left represents Peter's interest in playing chess. Just to the right of that is a sparrow hawk because Steve was an avid falconer at that time. The two vertical organ pipes are for Carolyn and represent the 8 rank pipe organ that is in our home. The horizontal telescope shows the interest of all of us in looking at the valley from our hilltop home. The long, reddish-brown diagonal form is a flute, the instrument that Julie plays. The black circle represents a microphone that Lew uses in his "ham" radio activities. Just to the right of that is a grand piano that occupies a large portion of our living room. Near the right top is a black face of a cat. Julie had 18 cats at one time. We also had a dog, depicted as the green face to the right and below the cat. The reddish-brown baritone is the instrument that Peter played in the Pleasanton Elementary School Band. And lastly, Julie's ballet slippers are found in the lower right corner. |
