Reporting Parameters

The checkboxes show which options have been selected. The balance of the discussion in this topic will discuss the pros and cons of selecting specific checkboxes. The purpose of this group of parameters is to select the types of reports which are available.

Print the Initial Analysis If It Is Below the Action Point

Note that the box is already checked, this is the default response. It means that even if the results are less than the action point, they are reported as a "Less Than" value.

Write Residuals Data

The residuals data are the differences between the measured subject data and calculated results based on the answers obtained. They have units of counts per second per channel. They're not the same as the Sigma Graph, but the Sigma Graph is based on the proper mathematical treatment of the residuals data.

Click the "Write Residuals Data" if you wish to write these data to a disk file. The file will contain the first three lines of demographic information of the individual being counted, then a blank line that normally contains the counting time in seconds, and then 511 channels of residuals data expressed in scientific notation. "Reporting Parameters Figure 2," below, sho OK now what you do the software ws a screen capture of a portion of the numerical data. These data may contain negative values, as is seen in "Reporting Parameters Figure 3 " below.

Reporting Parameters, Figure 2

Certain data files will show large residuals. By writing the residuals to a file, they may be analyzed by the "NETPLOT" program. This program is nor discussed in document.

Note the negative values.
Save the Individual Data Files

You will note that this option is "greyed out." This option applies only if you are using the software for an instrument with more than one NaI(Tl) detector, such as the "Quicky III" or the "Low-Rad (BRC)" waste analyzer.

Historically, if most of your counting shows that results are near zero, then there is little reason to save the individual data files. If you find an individual who has a significant amount of activity, it probably would be preferable to change this parameter and the one regarding analysis of the individual files and recount the individual. The choice is yours.
