My Mother was born at Great Pale, the Lewis family farm, near Whitland,
Carmarthen, Wales, G.B.. She moved to the Lewis ranch, with her family, about
17 miles toward the Uinta mountains from Evanston, Wyoming, USA, when she was
about three years old. She went to Business College in Wenatchee, Washington
when she was about 18 years old. She married George S. Helgeson, while he was
in the Army, stationed at Camp Cody, Demming, New Mexico, on 16 April 1918
(During World War I). As the wife of a Methodist minister, she worked with Dad
in the churches where he preached. Lewis, Bob and John, were born in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Paul was born in Montevideo, Minnesota. Mom also
worked with Dad in the trailer dealership. She did the bookkeeping and other
office work until Paul was old enough to take over the office. She was living
with Paul, in his basement apartment at the time of her death, 26 February 1976.
She had been telephoning Wesley Helgeson in Richland, Washington, every dayprior to her death to see if his wife had given birth to her first
Great-Grand-Child. The baby girl, Amy Lynn Helgeson, was born just a few hours
after mother died, on 26 February 1976. Mother was 82 1/2 years old at the
time of her death.
